Anna Kendrick snags lead role in indie crime thriller “Unsound”

Actress Anna Kendrick is set to star in the film “Unsound”, an independent crime thriller to be directed by Bharat Nalluri.

With the screenplay written by Christopher Edwards and Matthew Ross, Unsound will put the spotlight on a New England state trooper’s daunting task. Having irreversible hearing loss, the trooper is tasked with the investigation notorious gang leader’s prison break. As she cracks down the case, the premise puts her in a life-threatening conspiracy.

The original material is from ShowKat Production banner’s Jonathan Shukat. Shukat will be producing the film along with Andrew Corkin of Untapped and Aram Tertzakian and Nate Bolotin of XYZ.

Kendrick who is known for her light-hearted roles in comedies such as the “Pitch Perfect trilogy” and “Mike and “Dave Need Wedding Dates” is no stranger to hard-hitting films. The actress was nominated for an Academy Award for her performance in the 2009 film “Up in the Air” where she starred opposite Hollywood veteran, George Clooney. Her most recent big-screen project is 2018’s “A Simple Favor” where she starred alongside Blake Lively and Henry Golding.

While the actress has been playing notable roles in recent years, people have quite forgotten that she was actually a mainstay in three movies of the Twilight Saga. Kendrick herself even forget she was in the franchise Tweeting last year, “Holy s**t. I just remembered I was in Twilight. (sic)”

Fans of Kendrick will soon get to see her on Disney’s streaming service Disney+ when she appears in the forthcoming holiday comedy, “Noelle.”

As for Nalluri, the filmmaker is known for his works such as “Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day”, “Tsunami: The Aftermath”, “Life on Mars” and “Hustle.” His directing credits are both for film and television.
