‘The Hunt’ still has a chance to be released in the future says producer

Producer and Blumhouse Productions CEO Jason Blum has expressed his hopes of The Hunt’s eventual release. This follows Universal’s decision to cancel the film’s release after a series of shootings rattled the United States.

Under the Blumhouse banner, Blum developed the success of recent films including Jason Peele’s Get Out and Us. His track record also includes the Oscar-winning Whiplash.
The Hunt’s cancellation proved to be a massive letdown for Blumhouse fans and those looking forward to the horror-action film. Many wondered if the film will ever be released in the future. Speaking to Vulture, Blum addressed the exact sentiment revealing that he has not given up on the film’s release.

When the outlet asked if the film would get its chance in the future Blum says, “Definitely a chance. I hope so.” In the same interview, the producer also shared his learnings from the controversy that surrounded the film.

While Blum says he “learned a lot of lessons” he would still choose to make The Hunt. “We definitely made marketing mistakes, and we made plenty of mistakes along the way. So I’ve learned a lot,” the producer says. He adds while his experiences might change the way he positions and markets movies, it wouldn’t change the movies he makes.
The Hollywood Reporter previously reported that The Hunt was already controversial prior to its cancellation. In the report, the outlet revealed that the film’s test screenings weren’t received with much positivity. The satirical thriller reportedly made test audiences uncomfortable with its politically-laden themes.
