Rami Malek, Scarlett Johansson to present awards at Golden Globes

Awards season continues heading into 2020 with the forthcoming 77th Golden Globe Awards. Last month, the prestigious ceremony released its full list of nominees. And now everything seems to be coming together as Rami Malek and Scarlett Johansson are announced as presenters.

Both actors have more business at the awards ceremony aside from their presenting duties. Malek and Johansson are in the race to receive trophies in their respective categories with each their own nominations.

38-year-old Malek is nominated under the category of Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series – Drama trophy. This recognizes the Oscar-winner’s prolific performance in the hit USA Network drama/thriller, Mr. Robot. This is the third time Malek received a nomination for the same role. The actor went home with the Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama last year. All thanks to his acting chops in the musical biopic Bohemian Rhapsody.

On the other hand, 35-year-old Johansson is vying for the Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama award for her successful performance in Noah Baumbach’s Marriage Story. She acted opposite Adam Driver as the two played a couple going through the intricacies of divorce. Both Johansson and Driver had been critically lauded for their performances in the Netflix drama film.

Ricky Gervais will be returning to host the festivities on Sunday, Jan. 5 which will take place at the Beverly Hills Hilton. The British comic revealed that this year will mark his last stint as a host for the Golden Globes.
