Pete Davidson’s hilarious explanation for his SNL absence

One of Saturday Night Live’s fan favorites has been noticeably missing for the first two episodes of its season 45. This weekend, comedian Pete Davidson has returned to the show and it turns out he has a pretty excusable reason for going AWOL.

On Saturday, David Harbour from Stranger Things made his hosting debut on the sketch show. During Harbour’s monologue, he took the SNL audience on a tour around Studio 8H. Unfortunately, things went south after Harbour entered a portal to the Upside Down. An SNL-Stranger Things crossover of sorts ensued.

Later on, Harbour found Davidson chilling in a hallway.

“Pete Davidson? Is there where you’ve been? In the Upside Down?” the actor asked with Davidson just casually confirming.

Davidson is seen again on the “Weekend Update” segment of the show as he joined Colin Jost and Michael Che. In the segment, Davidson offered his sentiments on the rising cases of STDs linked to the popularity of dating apps.

“I get tested for STDs all the time because I look like I have all of them,” Davidson quipped on the show, “and look like I might have created my own.”

The comic even lamented the return of certain STDs while he was at it. “Does everything in my generation have to be a reboot?” Davidson hilariously asked. “The clap and Rambo came back in the same year, and neither of them were wanted.”

All jokes aside, the actual reason behind Davidson’s absence is the taping for Suicide Squad in Atlanta, Georgia.
