Orlando Bloom on reprising Legolas: “I’m not ageless”

Lord of the Rings fans are hoping for Orlando Bloom’s return as Legolas in the TV series adaptation of the LotR trilogy. However, the actor thinks he is too old to play the ageless elf.

When Amazon announced the creative team behind its forthcoming TV adaptation of Lord of the Rings, fans couldn’t help but wonder if Bloom will be heading back to Middle-Earth?

Fans are hopeful since the actor is already signed on to the network with his new series Carnival Row. As for the actor’s thoughts on potentially appearing in the LotR show he tells ET:

“I haven’t had any conversations about that.”

“It’s so funny, I remember being on set with Peter [Jackson] 20 years ago now, and he was saying, ‘Wouldn’t it be funny to think about when they want to remake Lord of the Rings?’ We were in the midst of this remarkable journey. I was like, ‘It’s never going to happen!'” he recalled, laughing at the memory. “Here I am working for Amazon and they’re re-doing it,” the actor recalled.

“It’s great,” Bloom said of the upcoming fantasy adaptation. “Look, I don’t know how they’re going to approach it. I haven’t had any conversations about that.”

“I like to think of myself of ageless, but I’m not,” the actor quipped, but his Carnival Row co-star, Cara Delevingne who was there to promote the show with him, begged to differ.

“You really are!” she disagreed.

“I don’t know where I would fit in now in that world. If I think you’re saying there’s Legolas, they probably got a 19-year-old kid ready to go,” he reasoned.
