Katharine McPhee Foster is enjoying her married life with her music producer husband, David Foster. Now, the American Idol alum is opening up about being a newlywed and why she decided to take her husband’s last name.

The singer was present at the annual Vocal Star seminar to mentor aspiring musicians with her experience in the industry. In the event, McPhee Foster was introduced to participants by her extended last name. Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, she says that she hasn’t gotten used to being called by her married name.

“We’ve been away since we’ve been married, so not [yet], but I love it,” she said. “I just love the ring of it, so I’m enjoying it.”

As for the reason behind why she took Foster for her extended last name the newlywed admitted that she’s “a romantic.”

“I’ve always liked the idea that it’s still a traditional thing that exists in our society,” McPhee Foster explained. “I like the idea. I think it’s romantic and it’s a great last name.”

The now husband and wife got hitched in a private ceremony in London, United Kingdom. The two then immediately took off for a romantic honeymoon in Italy. As for their honeymoon period, McPhee Foster seems to be really enjoying her time with her hubby since getting married.

“We just love being with each other. There’s no arguing, no drama. It’s just easy,” McPhee says about their marriage adding, “That’s how it should be.”

Since coming back from her honeymoon the singer has dedicated her time to mentor aspiring record artists.
