John Mayer has taken preventive measures against a man who has been relentlessly stalking him and sending him death threats.
The crooner’s stalker is identified as Ryan Jeremy Knight, a 39-year-old man from North Carolina as reported by the Daily Mail. Based on the documents retrieved by the news outlet, Knight has been trailing and harassing Mayer since March this year. The stalker then started to get more aggressive in April as he sent threats to Mayer and his team via social media. Some of the quotes that Knight reportedly said to the singer are:
‘F**k you for all that you do ya narcissist’
‘You ain’t s***,’
‘I will beat you and your whole crew at the same d**n time.’
Knight also attempted to enter an event where Mayer was back in June but was stopped when he was identified by security according to retrieved court documents. Mayer says the threatening messages caused fear and emotional distress. The judge assigned to the case granted the musician a temporary restraining order against Knight who is mandated to stay 100 feet away from Mayer and his home.
According to records from the Mecklenburg County Sheriff Mayer’s stalker has had a history of stalking. He was reportedly arrested last March after an incident of misdemeanor stalking back in June 2017.
Knight made references to serial killers Ted Bundy and Mark David Chapman in the messages he sent to Mayer.
Mayer and his representatives have not released an official statement regarding the matter as of this writing.
