Everything you need to know about Rihanna’s 2019 Diamond Ball

Rihanna is hosting her 5th annual Diamond Ball to honor Barbados prime minister Mia Amor Mottley and activist Shaun King.

The Fenty Beauty founder has held the Diamond Ball every year since 2014 to benefit her New York City-based Clara Lionel Foundation. Rihanna started the foundation in honor of her grandparents and to raise funds for global education and emergency response programs.

Rihanna announced this year’s annual star-studded benefit gathering on Wednesday. It will hail Mottley and King with the 2019 Diamond Ball Award. Aside from the guests of honor, the event is expected to attract the biggest names in the entertainment industry. The event will be hosted by Late Night star and Saturday Night Live alum Seth Meyers. Attendees will be enjoying performances by DJ Khaled and Pharrell Williams.

In a new statement released by the songstress, she says “I can’t imagine a better night than this year’s Clara Lionel Foundation event with Seth Meyers, Pharrell, and DJ Khaled.”

“I am particularly honored to present Prime Minister Mottley and Shaun King with this year’s Diamond Ball Awards for their groundbreaking work. We are so thankful to them for joining us and making the night better than ever,” the beauty mogul added.

Mottley has championed education in Rihanna’s native Barbados as well as promoting causes that benefit the community’s women and youth. King rose to prominence for using social media and his prowess for writing to raise awareness of social justice causes. The activist is behind the Real Justice PAC organization and relaunching The North Star publication. Both have contributed phenomenally to their causes.
