Eva Mendes on redeeming her womanhood from being a mom

Motherhood is the most exhausting and yet rewarding phase of a woman’s life–something that actress Eva Mendes knows all too well.

The mother of two is opening up about her experience with raising her daughters with husband Ryan Gosling. The pair are parents to Amada Lee (age 3) and Esmeralda Amada (age 5).

Mendes sat down for an interview with People to discuss how her children inspire her with their carefree spirits.

“They care, in the best way,” Mendes tells the publication. “They’ll just be like, ‘Can I wear socks on my hands today?’ And I’m like, ‘Yes, of course you can wear socks on your hands today.’ So we make that happen.”

Mendes adds, “or they’ll get a Halloween costume that we have hanging out and they’ll wear that with pajama pants and a headband, and it’s so cool. It’s just such a freedom.”

The 2 Fast 2 Furious stare shared that her daughters are at a very active stage as they grow out of being toddlers. And now that her kids are starting to come into their own, Mendes says, “I’m slowly starting to feel like a person.”

“Now that we’re getting out of the toddler phase, I’m excited to not wear paint all over me, or food all over me. But we still have a 3-year-old.”

The movie star and her Oscar-nominated husband are one of the most private couples in Hollywood. Previously, Mendes revealed to Women’s Health in April that she never wanted to have kids until she met Gosling.
