Demi Lovato skips VMAs to make television acting return

Demi Lovato is revisiting her television acting roots.

The “Sorry Not Sorry” hitmaker teased fans about working on a new project as she explained why she skipped out on the 2019 MTV Video Music Awards. While people were speculating that Lovato opted out of the event to shade Swift’s win, the actress was actually busy acting.

Lovato addressed the matter in a series of now expired posts on her Instagram Story.

“Okay I can’t tell you guys what I’m doing today (you’ll find out super soon tho) but it’s making me SO HAPPY,” She wrote on her stories on Monday night. “I’m having SO MUCH FUN and I can’t stop laughing. Now go come up with your crazy ass theories as to wht it might be!!!”

The former Disney Channel teen star then added, “I skipped the VMA’s for a REASON. Well that and I just hate award shows.”

While Lovato didn’t offer any specifics on what she’s working on, TVLine previously reported that she was guest starring in three episodes of the show Will & Grace. The outlet notes that details of her character as Jenny is still kept under wraps.

The singer/actress, later on, confirmed the news after sharing a photo taken on the set of the show with the caption “Will & Grace & Demi.”

Lovato has been keeping herself busy with music and other projects as she bounces back from a dangerous drug overdose that left her in the emergency room last year. She is making a steady recovery and has remained sober since checking into rehab after the incident.
