Stevie Wonder revealed to fans in his London concert that he will undergo a kidney transplant in September this year.
Last Saturday, Wonder told the crowd at his concert in British Summer Time Hyde Park, London the good news that he has found a kidney donor. He also told fans that he will be taking time off from performing.
BBC reporter Aleem Maqbool posted a video of Wonderās announcement via Twitter. In the video, the legendary singer is heard addressing the crowd saying:
āIām going to have surgery. Iām going to have a kidney transplant in September of this yearā¦Itās all good. Iām all good. I have a donor.ā
āI want you to know, I came here to give you my love and to thank you for your love,ā Wonder told the massive crowd. āYou aināt gonna get no rumors about nothing. I told you whatās up.ā

The music icon shared the details of his health following reports that circulated in the media regarding his medical issues. The initial report of Wonder suffering from kidney failure was released by an urban radio host in Philadelphia. The host reported that Wonder had started dialysis treatment. Following this, an onslaught of rumors surrounded the Motown legend.
The midday host of 105.3 WDAS-FM, Patty Jackson said āPrayers going out to singer Stevie Wonderā¦ Heās currently on dialysis, hoping that one of his children will give him a kidney,ā in a video uploaded on YouTube last month. Jacksonās source was not identified.
On July 3 the Detroit Free press published a story that had multiple sources claiming Wonder was having āseriousā medical problems.
