butter

litre of
chicken stock

dried split peas
salt and pepper for garnishing
Instructions
Melt your butter in a large soup pot over medium to low heat.
Stir in your onion, garlic and celery.
Cook these ingredients slowly for about 5 to 8 minutes. The onion should be clear and not brown.
Mix in your ham, peas and bay leaf.
Pour in the chicken stock and water.
Stir to combine the mixture and simmer it over low heat until it starts to thicken.
Stir occasionally over 1 hour and 15 minutes of cooking time.
Serve the soup warm, garnished with salt and pepper.
