Authentic pizza dough recipe

  • 1/4 cup of olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 1/2 cups of warm water
  • 1 dash of caster sugar
  • 2 teaspoons of yeast
  • 4 cups of plain flour (you will need extra for dusting)


  • Combine your water, sugar and yeast in a large bowl.
  • Whisk the mixture thoroughly and set it aside for 5 minutes or until it starts to foam up.
  • Add in your flour and salt into the centre and mix thoroughly.
  • Add in your oil and mix again.
  • Dust your bench top with some flour and use your hands to combine the dough.
  • Knead the dough with your hands for several minutes.
  • Grab a bowl and lightly brush it with olive oil.
  • Place your kneaded dough in the oil bowl and cover it with cling wrap.
  • Let it sit for half an hour where it should have doubled in size.
  • After the 30 minutes dust your bench with more flour and knead the dough into long cylinders.
  • Divide the total amount into thirds and use a rolling pin to give them a disc shape.
  • Add your desired toppings along and bake them in your oven and you're ready to go!
