Vladimir Putin defends Donald Trump following historic impeachment

Russia’s President Vladimir Putin claims the grounds for Donald Trump’s impeachment are “made up.”

Putin openly criticized the US democrats over the “absolutely made up” charges made against Trump. The Russian president says he expected the US president to prevail over the proceedings.

Described as something similar to what Trump might say himself, Putin slammed the US Democrats in an annual press conference. The strongman claims that the party had another agenda saying that the impeachment was an attempt to make up for their 2016 presidential elections loss “by other means.”

“The Democratic Party, which lost the elections, is achieving results through other means, by accusing Trump at first of conspiracy with Russia, then it turns out, there was no conspiracy at all,” he was quoted saying during a question and answer discussion in Moscow.

“It then turned out that there was no collusion and it could not form the basis for impeachment, and now there is this made-up pressure on Ukraine,” he added, as per The Guardian.

December 18, 2019, went down in history books as the day a 3rd president of the United States was impeached. The country’s House of Representatives voted in favor of Trump’s impeachment for abuse of power and obstruction of justice. The charges were based on Trump urging Ukraine to privately investigate the family of his political rival, former United States Vice President Joe Biden.

Trump now awaits a senate trial to determine his removal from office. However, it is not expected that Trump will be removed from office with the Republicans sitting in the senate majority.
