UK TV personality Caroline Flack found lifeless in her flat

English television presenter and radio host Caroline Flack has died at the age of 40.

According to reports by the UK news outlets the Daily Mail and The Sun, Flack was found lifeless at her apartment on Saturday.  Her recent projects include the popular reality U.K. reality show Love Island. She stepped back from hosting the series after she was embroiled in controversy when she was charged with assaulting her partner back in December 2019.

Flack’s family confirmed her death in a statement released to the United Kingdom’s Press Association.

“We can confirm that our Caroline passed away today on the 15th February,“ the statement said. “We would ask that the press both respect the privacy of the family at this difficult time.“

A spokesperson from British television channel ITV expressed their grief about Flack’s passing in a statement to People:

“Everybody at Love Island and ITV is shocked and saddened by this desperately sad news. Caroline was a much loved member of the Love Island team and our sincere thoughts and condolences are with her family and friends.“

Flack famously dated former One Direction member Harry Styles back in 2011. Their stark age gap was the hot topic in the media as Styles was 17 at the time while she was 31. The two were seen publicly displaying affection for each other. But things turned sour between the two after avid fans lashed out on the television host.

“It began to go wrong when he was pictured coming out of my house one morning. And that was that. In the street, people started shouting ‘paedophile’ at me in the street and ‘pervert’,” she previously shared about the relationship in her memoir.
