The best shows on Netflix, Disney Plus, and other streaming platforms this week

It’s not surprising that Stranger Things has been surging to the top of weekly rankings for streaming sites after last week’s teaser for its fourth season.

Business Insider has Parrot Analytics release a list of the top in-demand television shows on streaming providers in the United States based on what Parrot Analytics call ‘demand expressions’, their international standardized measurement unit for in-demand television. This reflects viewership and audience engagement collated by importance.

Here are some of the top television series you might want to check out this week and see what the buzz is about if you haven’t already.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Disney Plus (#5)

After six years, Star Wars: The Clone Wars is back in its final season. Mandalorian director and executive producer Dave Filoni is at the helm on this Star Wars fan-favorite series where the storyline will bridge the original Clone Wars series to the beginning of Revenge of the Sith. In the trailer, we see an Ahsoka who is nearly out of her teens and on her way in becoming the badass that she is in Rebels, Anakin on his way into becoming Vader, and a lot in between that gives nostalgia and goosebumps in a cocktail of awesomeness.

Star Trek: Picard, CBS All Access (#4)

The timeless Sir Patrick Stewart reprises his role as the iconic Jean-Luc Picard and follows the legendary television character as he transitions into the next chapter of his journey. The series takes the audience away from the familiar happy ending that the audience had been used to and see the universe as more than black and white.

The Witcher, Netflix (#3)

At this point, I think everybody agrees that Henry Cavill has embodied Geralt of Rivia quite well. The story follows the mercenary as he traverses the world that has dangers both hidden and exposed, both human and beast. Critics had dubbed the series as a mixture of fantasy favorites like Game of Thrones, Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings put into one show and sees the show has a lot of potential for television greatness.

The Mandalorian, Disney Plus (#2)

Disney Plus’s first-ever Star Wars television series was a huge hit and is now on its way into having a second season. The Mandalorian stars Pedro Pascal as the titular character as he traverses the universe after the Empire’s fall in this galactic western adventure. Oh, and did we forget baby Yoda?

Stranger Things, Netflix (#1)

Stranger Things shot towards the top after the teaser for season 4 was released last week. It seems like the kids will grow up with the show as long as they can manage to be consistent with the show’s storylines.
