This left users struggling to promote their content as certain posts kept appearing on the feed for days, while new photos were barely seen by other users. This time, Instagram has announced a new fix to their current algorithm.
With a rising number of social media influencers and models, people are trying their hardest to get as many likes and followers an reach the ultimate “insta-fame level”. Because millions of followers on Instagram became a synonym for lots of dollars on your bank account.
Now, Instagram is one of the most important tools for every business out there. Some of the most popular clothing brands are even investing all their marketing budgets to Instagram marketing so that so-called “Influencers” or accounts with millions of followers can advertise their products.

The new algorithm will freshen up your feed
As Instagram announced, the latest changes will actually improve your feed. In the official announcement, the company admitted that the previous algorithm was unexpectedly (and annoyingly) refreshing your feed only to bring you back on top to view the new content.
In order to make the feed more enjoyable, Instagram is bringing the “New Post” button which will let you choose if and when you want to refresh the page. This way, the automatic page refreshment will be out of the picture.
The new system is quite simple. If a user decides to view the new post, he or she will be taken to the top of the page where the new content is displayed. Similarly, it is not interested in leaving the current feed to view newly added photos, the New Post button can simply be ignored, leaving you to continue browsing where you left of.
Newer posts will most likely appear first
Instagram officials are hoping that the new feature will make browsing more enjoyable, In addition to the button option, the company is trying to improve posting order. The new algorithm will ensure that newer posts are displayed first in the user’s feed. This comes after Instagram users reportedly complained as old photos were stuck on their feed for days.
This algorithm led to missing a lot of new content from friends and families, which simply did not show at their feed at all. The only way to not miss new photos was to visit the accounts of interests regularly, which is completely opposite to Instagrams “purpose”.
The goal is to make your feed “fresher” and to ensure that Instagram is the best place for people to share their best memories and photo content while connecting with friends, brands, and clients. This way, the “old” content won’t be constantly appearing on your feed or rank higher than recently posted photos.
Although Instagram representatives explained that these changes are not taking us back to the chronological posting order, it will take us a step closer. They claim that this way, users won’t be missing the posts and photos they care about.
As an example, the company explained that if someone from the people you follow shares a selfie from Australia, you will be the first know. Well, we might then say that if one of our friends shares a photo from Times Square, we’ll definitely be able to see ii first.
