When you put your home up for sale, you need to make it look as presentable and aesthetically pleasing to the eye as possible. Any real estate agent will tell you that using the proper lighting in your home will surely make a difference.

For example, if you have repainted the walls of your house or have renovated the landscape. You’ll want these new features to be highlighted as much as possible when potential buyers come along to view the property.

If you put the proper lighting around these features, they will be more noticeable because their visual appeal will be enhanced.

Steps you can take to upgrade your home’s lighting:

New fixtures on the outside

When a prospective home buyer pulls up to see your property, the first thing they are going to see is the outside of your home. That is why it is essential to have good light fixtures which create a bright and clear light.

LED light fixtures are recommended to suit this purpose. Now you may be thinking that interested buyers will want to come along during the day to see your property, so why would you need lighting on the outside? Well, the truth is that many buyers are working their own jobs during the day and the only time they have available to view your property is in the evening. Since it is darker in the evening, that is even more reason to have good lighting on the outside.

Focus on the location where your exterior light fixtures will go. You’ll want your light to shine on the most important features of your home’s exterior, such as the driveway, porch, and walkways.

The lighting fixture should feel modernized and create a unique ambiance that buyers won’t see anywhere else in the area. If you do this correctly, you will give the buyer a great first impression and they will be eager to see the rest of the house.

Light up your landscaping

In addition to lighting the exterior features of your home, you’ll also want to light up the landscaping of your property as well. Some people think that landscape lighting is only necessary if you have a fancy landscaping design in your yard, such as an added pond or garden.

But you can benefit from landscape lighting no matter how fancy or plain your landscaping is. You just need to install lighting fixtures in the right places throughout your yard. Some people like to put spotlights on their shrubs, bushes, and/or trees to highlight the best features of their yard.

It also creates a pleasant inviting atmosphere where people feel comfortable walking in the yard at night. Even if you are someone with a small yard and very little landscaping, think about adding a small spotlight to your walkway or mailbox. There is always room in a yard for at least one lighting fixture.  You just need to get creative.

Add indoor lights

Most people do not use enough lighting inside their home. They will just use the one lighting fixture on their ceiling that exists in each room of the house and that is all. If you’re going to impress buyers, then the rooms in your home are going to need more lighting.

This doesn’t mean you should use bright lights inside your home. Just add more lights so that every inch of each room is clearly visible to the naked eye.

Try using BAA compliant LED lamps instead of fixtures in some of the bedrooms in order to give them a homelier presence. BAA compliant means that over 50% of the components in these lamps were manufactured by American workers. Then, in the bathroom and kitchen, use BAA compliant LED tubes to give them a different visual appeal than the bedrooms.

Get attention with lighting

Although you will want your entire home to be lit up, there are certain spaces in your home which should have more lighting than others. These are areas where you want to attract more attention to.

For example, if you have a nice fireplace in your living room or a jacuzzi in a sunroom, then you will want to use extra lighting to showcase these added features. This will make them appear more attractive to buyers.
