Millie Bobby Brown talks online harassment on her sixteenth birthday

Late last week, Stranger Things and Godzilla: King of the Monsters star Millie Bobbie Brown spent her name day not only with just cakes and parties but also discussed the struggles she has faced in regards to online harassment after becoming a breakout star in Hollywood.

Most teens would love to have a huge birthday party but not Millie Bobby Brown. The sixteen-year-old who apparently is a much wiser person for her age spent her special day went to Instagram and uploaded a warm and heartfelt post, sharing a video montage of her life since her breakout role in Netflix’s Stranger Things as Eleven.

The video contained headlines with criticism towards the teen actress from her social media activities to her fashion style and even a manufactured anti-LGBTQ+ meme that she had nothing to do with. The video had ‘Changes’ playing in the background, the new single from Justin Bieber.

The Instagram post was captioned with Brown’s message stating that she felt turning sixteen was a long time coming and motioned that she felt that some changes need to happen for the current and future generations. The caption goes on to say that the world needs more support and kindness from people in order for the youth to properly grow and succeed in life.

The Stranger Things star went on to share that the last few years being on the spotlight though successful, was not easy for her. The young actress goes on to explain that she gets frustrated by the inappropriate comments, insults, and unnecessary sexualization directed at her. Brown stated that the negativity had led her into being insecure, but was adamant in not letting all the hate bring her down. The 16-year-old star said that she has dedicated herself to making changes in society not only for herself but for other people who suffer from online bullying.

The Godzilla: King of the Monsters actress added that she will never let anyone defeat her and that she will continue to do what she loves and spread the message to help push change. Brown added that everyone should focus on what needs to be changed in the world and hopes that her video can inform and educate others regarding the things that go on behind the scenes of the glitz and glamour

Brown’s Instagram slideshow seemed to resonate not only with the 32 million Instagram followers she has but with other celebrities as well. The likes of Bella Hadid and Yara Shahidi had commented and greeted the Stranger Things star on her inspirational post.
