2018 was the year of shock celebrity engagements. Pete Davidson and Ariana Grande started this trend, getting engaged after only twenty-four days of being together.
However, this famous couple were not the only ones to take their relationship to the next level quickly. Justin Bieber (24) and Hailey Baldwin (22) also got engaged in 2018, with Bieber confirming this on Instagram on July 9th. At this time, the couple had only been dating for about a month.
Despite only dating for a few weeks, the two stars had known each other for a considerable amount of time. The pair actually first met at a meet and greet in 2009 when they were both teenagers. The relationship developed into a friendship and a brief, non-exclusive fling in 2015-2016.
It has recently been revealed that the couple privately tied the knot in a New York courthouse in September. This would mean the couple had only been together for a mere twelve weeks before their marriage.
In the March 2019 cover story for Vogue, the young couple opened up about their relationship. Bieber and Baldwin revealed that they chose to wait until marriage to have sex for the first time.
In this recent interview, Bieber admits that he has had “a legitimate problem with sex”. The singer opened up about being a sex addict and claiming that he was “super promiscuous” for a time.
It is no secret that the “sorry” singer is religious, with him being a member of the evangelical Hillsong Church. However, Bieber discusses how he believed his sex addiction was preventing him from having a deeper relationship with God.
The Canadian singer said that before reconnecting with Hailey he had been celibate for a year. Bieber believes that this positive change is what resulted in Baldwin coming back into his life. “I believe that God blessed me with Hailey as a result,”
It’s clear that the couple are super into each other. They are not shy about posting intimate Instagram posts.
But, is this the reason that the couple rushed to get married- so they could consummate their relationship? The couple haven’t denied that this is part of the reason why they were in a hurry to tie the knot.
Bieber has also made it clear that the rushed wedding was down to nothing other than true love “When I saw her last June, I just forgot how much I loved her and how much I missed her and how much of a positive impact she made on my life”. Bieber went on to say that Hailey is “what I’ve been looking for”.
Although the couple are technically married, they plan on having a religious ceremony, which is said to be a beach wedding sometime this year.
