John Legend on the “blessing” of raising an interracial family

Singer John Legend and his tv personality wife Chrissy Teigen has a picture-perfect family. Together they have two kids, a 3-year-old daughter Luna and 1-year-old son Miles.

The gorgeous couple seems to be making the most out of parenthood. Legend shares that they have learned so much from their interracial background as a family.

When asked by People magazine if there are any challenges to raising a family with such background, the singer said “I don’t think there were a lot of issues around it. A lot of it has been a blessing.”

“I feel like we learn from each other,” revealed. According to the coach from NBC’s The Voice, the infusion of their culture manifests in the food they eat.

“We have different experiences. We laugh at each other. The food has been better because we’re able to merge our taste and our different upbringings and what we grew up eating.”

And when it comes to in-laws, Legend and Teigen have a set-up that every married couple aspires to have.

“They really get along,” he says of his parents and Teigen’s. “Chrissy’s dad is white, her mother is Thai, both my parents are black and from Ohio…” Legend adds that the “cultural mix” is a great experience for his children to have as they learn to love within the bounds of diversity. The crooner strongly believes that his children will benefit from their multicultural backgrounds as people become more and more open to the idea of cultural appreciation.
