Home Alone star Macaulay Culkin questions the plot

More than 27 years after appearing in the original home alone film, Macaulay Culkin has revealed that he still doesn’t quite understand the plot.

Culkin said that there was one part of the famous 1990 film that has always bothered him. The former child star is now 37 years old and appeared recently on Jimmy Fallon’s ‘Tonight Show’ outlining his issue.

Culkin says that the child in the film, played by him, is a “really clever kid” so why didn’t he “just call the cops”.

Macaulay Culkin goes on saying how the kid in the film comes up with an incredible plan as these robbers are about to break in. he creates micro-machines and an array of devices to fight the burglars with. But Culkin goes on saying “there’s landlines, there are no cell phones, but still” saying that he believes it is an “enormous plot hole”.

Home Alone became the highest grossing film of the year when it was released in 1990 and managed to beat out tough competition from famous films such as Pretty Woman and Dances with Wolves.

Home Alone is still today one of the most popular Christmas movies of all time and as a result has become the subject of a number of fan theories, some of which are very creative.

Macaulay Culkin spoke to Jimmy Fallon about some of them. Culkin said that he has heard theories of some people saying “that Kevin McCallister grew up to be Jigsaw from Saw. There’s also the Elvis one.”

For those not familiar with the Elvis theory, some fans have proposed that the famous singer faked his death in 1997 and then came back as an extra in the film during the airport scene because he missed show business so much.

Macaulay Culkin burst onto the movie scene in 1990 with Home Alone before going on to star in a number of other popular Hollywood movies including the 1991 film My Girl, the follow up to his debut in Home Alone 2 that aired in 1992 and Richie Rich (1994).

Currently, the Hollywood star is working on a movie called Changeland that is both directed and written by Seth Green as well as launching his own website that he describes as a blend between The Onion and Goop.

Macaulay Culkin has previously been the victim of many Celebrity death hoaxes and he spoke on ‘The Tonight Show’ saying that he “used to see it as fun until it would affect other people” .
