Hilary Duff and Lizzie McGuire cast reunite for Disney+ reboot

Disney babies  rejoice! Hilary Duff and her ensemble will be returning for a reboot of Lizzie McGuire. A lot of the original cast has already signed and on board for the Disney Channel favorite. During the D23 Expo 2019 last August, the singer-actress announced that the beloved Disney Channel show will be returning for a series reboot.

The original series was a favorite to many who grew up in the 2000s, and according to Disney Channels Worldwide president and chief creative officer Gary Marsh, they couldn’t wait to introduce the franchise to a new generation of fans, and to re-introduce an older but wiser Lizzie to the original fan base.

People might be asking, what will the new series be about? According to the description of the official press release, the story will be a continuation of the original show and presents Lizzie as an almost thirty year-old living her dream life in New York City as an assistant to a fancy decorator. She is also with her dream guy and a beautiful apartment in Brooklyn. An animated version of her thirteen year-old self will also be part of the show to help her traverse the ups and downs of adult life.

Speaking in an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Duff talked about the reboot of the titular character who brought her into stardom. The actress excitedly stated that it felt surreal to her having had the information of them returning to the show.

The actress expressed that the character and the show had been a big part of her life and jokingly said that she feels that she has to re-learn some of the character’s quirky gestures once more.

Duff also shared the McGuire family reunion on Instagram after the read-through of the pilot episode.

Robert Carradine, Hallie Todd, and Jake Thomas all have been confirmed to reprise their roles as Lizzie’s mother Jo, father Sam, and brother Matt from the original show by Disney+. Show creator Terri Minsky will be coming back as well as the show runner for the reboot.

Ricky Strauss, Disney+ president of content and marketing announced that they are incredibly excited to bring back one of Disney Channel’s most popular series with the entire McGuire family now on board for the reboot.

There is no clear release date yet for the Lizzie McGuire reboot, but the one clear thing is that it will be carried on Disney+, Disney’s upcoming streaming platform that is set to launch this November.
