A bomb scare has inadvertently halted the filming of Marvel’s upcoming movie Eternals after an unidentified object was discovered.
According to Entertainment Tonight, the unidentified object that is still to be confirmed as a bomb or not was found near the film production’s second unit during their stay in the Canary Islands in Spain.
Rumors started circulating that Angelina Jolie and Richard Madden were rushed out of the venue but according to Entertainment Tonight, none of the other cast members were on-site at the same time. Express UK reported that authorities dispatched immediately resolved the alleged unexploded bomb.
A source said that it was a terrifying experience now knowing that a bomb could have been stashed in the area of years without anybody’s knowledge. The Sun supported this report by saying that the bomb could have been something left behind from a supposed Nazi base that was discovered nearby before the evacuation happened. The cast and crew were relocated to a safer place within the island while a bomb unit dealt with the situation.
This upcoming expansion to the Marvel Cinematic Universe will be based on the 1976 comic book series created by Jack Kirby about a collection of immortal beings that were created by a group of cosmic beings called the Celestials to be Earth’s defense against evil called the Deviants. It is speculated that the first film could be an origin story of sorts of how these heroes were created. This ensemble will be considered as the starting point for a huge group of Marvel heroes like what the Avengers was in the previous Phases before other characters from other Marvel movies converge with them in the future.
The movie has a star-studded cast that probably won’t fall behind the avengers lineup with the likes of Angelina Jolie (Maleficent, Tomb Raider) who will play Thena, Kit Harington (Game of Thrones, How to Train Your Dragon) as Dane Whitman, Richard Madden (Bodyguard, Game of Thrones) as Ikaris, Salma Hayek (Frida, Desperado, Grown Ups) as Ajak, Kumail Nanjiani (Men in Black: International, Central Intelligence, The Big Sick) as Kingo, Gemma Chan (Crazy Rich Asians, Captain Marvel) as Sersi, and Ma Dong-Seok (Train to Busan) as Gilgamesh, being some of the film’s principal stars.
Marvel’s big boss Kevin Feige will serve as a producer for the film, with Chloé Zhao as the director and Matthew and Ryan Firpo as the writers for the screenplay.
Marvel’s The Eternals is set to be released on November 6, 2020.
