Photos of Colin Farrell and Robert Pattinson on the set of “The Batman” were recently leaked online. This prompted director Matt Reeves to go out of his way and finally confirm that Farrell is playing the iconic villain, Penguin.
This goes to show that there’s nothing you can hide from audiences and fans when it comes to filming. That is unless you take the strict confidentiality measures that Marvel Studios implements on its productions — but even with that, Marvel still experiences its own photo leak blunders.
Reeves went on Twitter to post a confirmation about Farrell’s role. Prior to the tweet, the Irish actor’s latest character was reported but never confirmed by multiple news outlets. Reports that Farrell was circling the role emerged back in November. Reeves posted a gif of Farrell in his telling tweet and on the caption he wrote:
“Wait — is that you, Oz?” in reference to Penguin’s real identity as Oswald Cobblepot.

The Batman, which stars Pattinson as the caped crusader, has begun filming. Set photos were leaked online which appeared to show the British actor on a motorcycle sporting dark hair. See the photos below:
Can confirm 100% as he never revealed his face but is this Robert…..!? 🦇 pic.twitter.com/MX90S7bqol

As for Penguin, Farrell was seen in a dark suit and the villain’s signature umbrella with his hair dyed blonde. This is obviously a departure from Danny DeVito’s caricature-like take on the antagonists in the 1992 Tim Burton film “Batman Returns”. See if you can spot him in these photos:

Key characters in the film will be played by Zoë Kravitz (Selina Kyle/Catwoman), Paul Dano (Edward Nashton/The Riddler) and Andy Serkis (Alfred Pennyworth).
