Channing Tatum announces shock split from wife Jenna Dewan

After almost nine years of marriage, it has been announced that Channing Tatum and his wife Jenna Dewan are splitting.

A now famous Hollywood actor Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan, a dancer, met on the set of Step Up in 2006 before marrying in Malibu in 2009.

The couple announced their split across their social media channels earlier today in what was a surprisingly upbeat post. It was a shared post in which they touched on the strange nature of sharing such a personal moment with the world but said “it’s a consequence of the lives we have chosen to lead”.

The long post continued by saying that “we have lovingly chosen to separate as a couple…there are no secrets at the root of our decision…just realising that it is time to take some space”.

The famous couple has one child together, Evelyn who was born in 2013 and they said ion their post that they will continue to be loving and dedicated parents to their child.

In previous interviews, both Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan have heaped praise on the other with Tatum even writing a letter to his wife that was published in Cosmopolitan magazine. The letter was about their relationship and the power they have together with Tatum writing, “Jenna blurted out that she knew what she wanted in life…it was me.”

He continued to say that it was the “radical authenticity” that made him fall in love with her and that she was everything that he had ever wanted in a partner.

It was only a couple of weeks ago that the two appeared to be spending quality family time together with Channing Tatum posting a picture on his Instagram. The image was of him and his wife with face paint on them and the caption “what it looks like when a little tyrant fairy artist holds you down and makes you look better”.

Dewan spoke earlier this year in response to many in the media saying that the couple lives a “perfect life” responding by saying that no one lives a perfect life. She did, however, say that there is such a thing as a great fit as long as you both continue to grow together.

She concluded the interview by saying that “if one starts to grow, the other catches up”. This was reiterated in the couple’s social media announcement regarding their split stating that they are no long grower together but in different directions.
