Black Adam: What you need to know about The Rock’s DCU debut

Shazam’s comic book arch-nemesis is coming to the big screen in the form of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

While Shazam! Marked DC’s giant leap into comedy from it’s usual grim and grit, fans have more to look forward to. The Rock was reportedly tapped by Warner Bros. to play Black Adam way before Zachary Levi was set to play the titular hero. And it looks like a new franchise is in the works involving these two hard-hitting characters.

A stand-alone Black Adam film is reportedly in the works for the studio. Jaume Collet-Serra was recently announced to helm the movie and is expected to meet with Johnson after his prior commitments for the upcoming Disney’s Jungle Cruise movie wraps up.

Black Adam producer Hiram Garcia has given an update on the project saying:

“Jaume is a real talent. He is one of my favorite directors I’ve ever worked with. Not only is he talented, he’s an unbelievable collaborator. He’s an amazing visionary,” Garcia said speaking to CinemaBlend. “And what we have in store with Black Adam and for the fans, I am so excited inside. Inside, I take pride as being a fan boy. I started as a fan boy before I became a producer, so I hold onto that DNA. His vision for what we want to do with Black Adam is fantastic. So, that deal’s almost closed. He’s ready to go, and I think the fans are going to be really happy.”

Warner Bros. has yet to announce when production will start for the project or release date so hold on to keep yourselves updated.
