“Visited for the first time to see a movie. Fascinating historical building. The State Theatre shop had a very interesting variety of offerings. We were found it fascinating. Bought a couple of really great books” – Helen Willis-Smith
Village Cinemas has been providing quality entertainment for Australian families since establishing one of the country’s first drive-in cinemas in 1954. Countless memories have been created in their cinemas, from those tentative first dates, to celebrating anniversaries in style, to seeing the kids’ faces light up in front of their favourite superheroes. They are proud to have played a small part in these moments and are committed to continuously creating new ways to make the cinema experience more meaningful.
Over the years, they’ve developed a broad range of cinema experiences to cover all tastes and occasions. Whether you’re looking for family fun, a great girls’ night out, a luxury experience for a special occasion, expanding your horizons with foreign films and documentaries, or just to be blown away by the latest blockbuster, you can do it all at Village Cinemas.

“Not much to say here. Even though it is managed by Village cinemas, the building has a very old school vibe with retro arcade with old-school games and vending machines. The cinema itself has decent seats and setup, just as one might expect.” – Dhruv Chawla
Theatre Royal is a historic performing arts venue in central Hobart, Tasmania. It is the oldest continually operating theatre in Australia; Noël Coward once called it “a dream of a theatre” and Laurence Olivier launched a national appeal for its reconstruction in the 1940s.
There are exciting changes ahead for the Theatre Royal that will provide greatly improved facilities and amenities for Theatre Royal patrons and performers as part of the Hedberg. These changes will also ensure the on-going viability and safeguard the future of the Theatre Royal.

After an initial phone call with a flat ‘no’, I rang again and spoke on the phone with Matt. Matt was beyond helpful and provided customer service at it’s best, helping me organise some additional tickets for latecomers to a family catch up.
On the whole, all the team at the Theatre Royal have been extremely helpful and an absolute pleasure to deal with.” – Mellanie Wulf
