Hains & Co
Hains & Co was born from a love of gin, rum, and family. Five Generations ago being seafaring types the Hains family came across on boats to settle in Port Adelaide. Here they lived and prospered as the family grew. The Admiral’s great grandfather partnered with a gentleman to started a furniture shop on Hindley St called Hains Hunkin, on the site of what is now the Grand Chancellor Hotel.
In the end taking he took full control of the business, which Ralph Louis Frederick Hains (Grandfather) then took over. At the time of retirement Ralf sold the business to another gentleman who was taking it on as a going concern, to his Grandfathers dismay he ended breaking the business up and selling of the pieces, leaving long serving staff and friends to find employment elsewhere.
To that end they are bringing the Hains name back to Hindley St, or at least close to it.
Gin, Rum, Whisky, Cigars, Break-Even Bottle
“Went to Hains and Co for few after work drinks. I had few of their local and Australian Gin and Tonic, and everything they served was perfect. I just kept going back for more Gin and Tonic. The atmosphere is great and if you are out with few friends for couple of drinks and love your drinks and cocktails done perfectly, then then I would suggest you check this place out.” – Robert Lazar
“Lovely place. Great gin selection, tasty beers, friendly staff, good location.
Even let us have our dog there outside while we are/drank. Thanks guys 😉” – Miles Pollett

Apothecary Wine Bar & Restaurant opened in December 2002 in a heritage listed building in the heart of the West End precinct. The name comes from the 142-year-old pharmacy cabinets which grace the front bar. Originally from London, these mahogany pieces feature pure crystal drawer handles with 18-carat gold leaf inscriptions. Tumbled marble floor tiles arranged in the same style as the footpaths of Italy are featured in the main bar. Rustic brickwork lines the cellar walls, and some 1200 wines quietly sleep behind intricate wrought iron work in the cellar.
